Liiga-Somero is volleyball club for Women and female juniors. Club has three women adult teams, Team 1, is participating in Finnish Championship league.

Liiga-Somero has also wide range of junior teams. Club has been nominated several years among of the best female Finnish junior clubs by Finnish volleyball association.
Somero junior teams achieved its first medals in international Power cup junior competition. Power cup is the biggest volleyball tournament for juniors in the world. (www.lentopalloliitto.fi/nuoriso/power_cup/power_cup_in_english/).

In total club Somero participates Finnish junior leagues with 12 junior teams and 120 players, between age groups 8-18 years.
Club Somero has been also one of the pioneers of Finnish Beach Volleyball development.
Twelve times played, international Somero Beach competition collected 250 teams yearly to Somero.

In side of Finnish league our team has been participating earlier Baltic sea league. Season 2009-2010 the team is having again international games. Fourth NEVZA, Nordic club championships are going to played again. Team Somero is participating the cup, like it has been doing during the history of the cup.

The town, SOMERO
Somero, is a beautiful small country town in southern Finland The population is 10 000. With its closeness to Helsinki, Turku and Tampere (100) km the location in the middle of southern Finland is excellent. In south, neighboring city is Salo 35 kilometre from Somero. Salo is well known of Finnish Mobile industry, and birth place of "connecting people" company, Nokia. Other neighbour is industrial town Forssa, 25 kilometres north of Somero. Somero is living from agriculture. The town has an area of arable land 25 000 hectares. Also in pig breeding and poultry & egg production. In Agriculture production, Somero is the biggest county in Finland.

Somero is also well known from its nature. In the country side there is large population of small lakes. In the summertime the area is crowded with summerhouse residents.

Somero offers some interesting tourist attractions one of the most famous, Hiidenlinna castle, which is the only castle built in 19 th. century in Finland by the owner, builder and architect Reino Koivuniemi . Somero has a rich cultural life, with roots of famous culture persons. Famous tango composer Unto Mononen, evergreen rock star Rauli “ Badding” Somerjoki, folk song singer MA Numminen, great novelist Kaari Utrio etc. Somero is also famous for its outdoor summer dancing pavilions Esakallio and Ämyri.

 
One of the famous Somero born persons is Kaija Aarikka. In the course of these five decades, Aarikka has developed into a leading company in its field: the crafting and design of jewellery, home decoration and giftware, all in wood. Quality products, distinctive design, simple colours and round shapes are still the key Aarikka concepts.

Somero offers you a wide range of sporting and leisure activities in the town, Sport hall for 800 spectators, where also the volley team of Somero plays its games. Ice hall with 1 000 spectators, swimming hall sports field, tennis and floor bandy arena, riding arena etc. Most famous sports person of Somero is Pentti Nikula. He was the first man in the globe who achieved 5 meters in pole-vaulting.
